“I got a good heart. But this mouth..”

So often we hear the phrase ” I got a good heart but this mouth..”. I too for so long used this phrase and truly thought it justified my actions but didn’t take away from the light I was suppose to be in christ. God knows my heart right?, isn’t that what we always tell people when they try to correct us in love or “judge” us as we say. Well, the Lord walked with me and showed me his take on these phrases. Everything was right there in his word all along. Yet, I missed it. Let us not be too late. The time is now. The Lord is at the door.

The two things we are speaking of are the heart and the mouth and/or the tongue. The word tells us in Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?. So here we have an understanding that the creator of man has made it clear that the heart Is wicked and who but him can know it. The next thing in connection to this would be the mouth/tongue and he says in Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. So in these two verses we already have a glimpse of what God perceives the heart and mouth/tongue should be.

On my journey I found many verses that the Lord impressed upon my heart and brought light too, for me to be able to understand and to be an example of his word. In the next few paragraphs I will share some of those with you and then just leave a list of others that you can look up on your own later.

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth fourth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasures of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil; for of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Now for me? That verse in itself was a hard pill to swallow. We all strive to be good in some kind of way but for those who strive to be like Christ we must remember that good and evil cant mix. He also said there is none good but him but that doesn’t mean that we cant be good it simply means if he abides in our hearts then we can be good because he has filled us , but it is nothing we can do or be on our own. The Lord cannot abide in a temple filled with corrupt thoughts, actions or communication. Proverbs 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. Brothers and sisters our words, our actions, our thoughts spoken and unspoken are a reflection of what’s in the heart. If we want out words, actions and thoughts to reflect the fountain of life that Christ speaks of then we must fully surrender and let him abide in our hearts. Allow him to empty us of self and fill us with his holy spirit. In Christ we are made new creatures and all old things are passed away. I’m on a journey of being filled with him and emptied of self. I wanna be that fountain of life and If you do too I pray you will walk with God and I on this journey and create your own walk with him. We must die daily, to self that is. Down below I will post links to other scriptures that speak on the heart and the tongue that the Lord presented to me. I pray you will search the scriptures for yourself and allow God to move your heart and open your understanding. Maranatha.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the diving asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  1. Powerful word, in my walk with Christ I know the closer I get to God the more He sheds like on all of the baggage we’ve accumulated with being in this world.

The blessings though is in His presence He works with us to bear grow and maintain Good, Ripe fruits.

Keep allowing His spirit to minister through you woman of God.
